JOB TITLE: Library Assistant
JOB LOCATION: Horton Public Library 809 1st Ave E Horton, KS 66439
SALARY MINIMUM: $9 per hour
JOB TYPE: Part Time
JOB DESCRIPTION: Seeking motivated, professional & enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal, organizational and planning skills to fill part-time ( approx. 9-19 hrs per week) Library Assistant position.
DUTIES & QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma. Additional education & Library experience preferred. Computer & Office equipment knowledge. Circulation, cataloging, programs, filing/shelving, administrative duties, running a register, accurate documentation, ability to follow instructions, learn & develop skills in library operations.
The position is for hours from one or more shifts of Mon-Fri 1pm-4pm, or 4pm-7pm, or 1pm-7pm, or Sat 10am-2pm. Summer additional hours 11am -1pm. It will require additional hours for training & programming that are not regularly scheduled. Must be available for evening & weekend commitments to the Library.

JOB TYPE: Part Time (May-Aug)
JOB DESCRIPTION: Seeking motivated, professional & enthusiastic individual with excellent interpersonal, organizational and planning skills to fill temporary ( approx. 14 hrs per week) Youth Service Librarian position.
DUTIES & QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma. Knowledge of child development and children and youth literature or experience working with youth required. Additional education, library services, programming, experience preferred. Computer & Office equipment knowledge. Circulation, cataloging, programs, filing/shelving, administrative duties, running a register, accurate documentation, ability to follow instructions, learn & develop skills in library operations. Ability to follow instructions, learn & develop skills in library operations for circulation, statistics, sort & shelve material. Responsible for assisting with or planning and delivering library services and programs for pre-school through high school age youth. More duties & qualifications on job description form. The position is for hours from one or more shifts of Mon-Fri 10:30-12:30, 1pm-4pm, or 4pm-7pm, or Sat 10am-2pm. JOB TYPE: Part Time
JOB DESCRIPTION: Seeking motivated, professional & enthusiastic youth individual with excellent interpersonal, organizational and planning skills to fill part-time ( approx. 5-10 hrs per week) position. DUTIES & QUALIFICATIONS: Employment in this position is restricted to students 14- 16yrs of age enrolled in secondary education (high school or vocational technical school) or post-secondary (vocational technical school or college) academic programs. Employment provides a means of summer and/or part time employment, whereby students can become familiar with libraries for the purpose of educational objectives. Performs a variety of routine work assignments. Use of General office and computer equipment. Sorts and shelves library books and materials; · Checks to ensure books are correctly shelved according to title, author and number; · Prepares library materials for circulation; · Mends library materials; · Assists patrons with routine questions, referring to staff members as needed; · Performs various duties for closing, including straightening chairs, picking up books and magazines from tables, checking exits and restrooms, turning out lights, etc.; · Performs routine housekeeping tasks such as dusting shelves, picking up trash, straightening displays, etc. OTHER
REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Knowledge of business English, spelling and mathematics; basic computer literacy Ability to work well with others and assist the public cooperatively and courteously; ability to learn and follow the rules, regulations, administrative procedures and policies of the Library; ability to carry out assignments with minimum instructions; ability to pay close attention to detail; ability to read and write English.
